Penumbra

Excerpts of Penumbra include Revival and Aftercare.

Penumbra is personal and intimate, dealing with themes of domestic violence, addiction, and bipolar disorder. It outlines the anatomy of a relationship, wholly human, made of violence and care. Audiences drop into a complex, fraught relationship between two reflecting halves, cultivated to embody disowned, archetypal selves. Over the course of the night, these selves move through shared selfhood, animal-esque control, un-regulated mania, a frozen state of depression, and rituals created to maintain this cycle. In aesthetic, the work is is a deeply sensitive, grungy, slow-burn movement piece. In practice, it’s a rehearsal of asking what it feels like to say the intoxicatingly dark things that remain inside out loud, and what happens when you lose control of what you are saying.

Creative Team includes Darryl Filmore, Soren Kodak, and Max Sarkowksy.
